June 2013:

Romans 12: 1 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

1.       God does not force people to worship Him, He wants us to worship Him at our own will. Hence Paul is saying, “You must present your bodies”, that means like Moses made his decision in Hebrews 11: 24 … to be able to worship God, you need to make that decision yourself.

2.       Not all the sacrifices are acceptable to God, so when you are presenting your bodies you need to make sure that it will be acceptable. Abel and Cain presented sacrifices to God, but the other sacrifice was accepted, and the other was rejected by God. Be sure that when you present your body to God as a sacrifice, it will be acceptable. God will accept the sacrifices which are alive and Holy.

3.       In Matthew 7:21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” That means, not all the sacrifices are acceptable to God, then He goes on to say, “God will accept the sacrifices who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

NB: We used to be unacceptable to God, called the people without a God, we had no rights to the Kingdom of God … but in John 3:16 the bible says "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Through Christ we are now acceptable to God, so through Christ we can all present our bodies as living sacrifices … which the writer says “that is your spiritual worship.”

As the week begins, let us all present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God.

God bless, until next time.
